چکیده

Satellite sensors have been extremely useful and are in massive demand the understanding of Earth’s surface monitoring changes. For quantitative analysis acquiring consistent measurements, absolute radiometric calibration is necessary. The most common vicarious approach cross-calibration, which helps to tie all a scale for measurement. One traditional methods cross-calibration performed using temporally spectrally stable pseudo-invariant sites (PICS). This technique limited by adequate cloud-free acquisitions would require longer time study differences sensor measurements. To address limitation PICS-based approaches increase opportunity quickly achieving high-quality results, presented here based on extended pseudo invariant (EPICS) over North Africa. With EPICS-based approach, area extent site covers large portion African continent. targets this large, many should image some EPICS nearlydaily, allowing evaluation performance with much greater frequency. By these near-daily trends sensor’s then used evaluate sensor-to-sensor daily cross-calibration. use proposed methodology, dataset increased an order magnitude compared approaches, resulting between any two being detected within shorter time. Using new trend gains were evaluated Landsat 7/8 Sentinel 2A/B, results showing that calibrated 2.5% (within less than 8% uncertainty) or better pairs, what detects. cross-calibrate without requirement coincident near-coincident scene while still similar short

Absolute Calibration of Optical Satellite Sensors Using Libya 4 Pseudo Invariant Calibration Site

The objective of this paper is to report the improvements in an empirical absolute calibration model developed at South Dakota State University using Libya 4 (+28.55°, +23.39°) pseudo invariant calibration site (PICS). The approach was based on use of the Terra MODIS as the radiometer to develop an absolute calibration model for the spectral channels covered by this instrument from visible to s...

Calibration of Optical Satellite Sensors

Satellite cameras are calibrated before launch in detail and in general, but it cannot be guaranteed that the geometry is not changing during launch and caused by thermal influences and drying out effects in the orbit. Modern satellite imaging systems are based on CCD-line sensors. Because of the required high sampling rate, the length of used CCD-lines is limited. For reaching a sufficient swa...

A new method for cross-calibration of two satellite sensors

Given that many operational satellite sensors are not calibrated, while a handful of research sensors are, cross-calibration between the two types of sensor is a cost-effective means of calibration. A new method of sensor crosscalibration is demonstrated here using the Chinese Multi-channel Visible Infrared Scanning radiometer (MVIRS) and the US Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MODIS)....

Binary Classifier Calibration Using an Ensemble of Linear Trend Estimation

Learning accurate probabilistic models from data is crucial in many practical tasks in data mining. In this paper we present a new non-parametric calibration method called ensemble of linear trend estimation (ELiTE). ELiTE utilizes the recently proposed ℓ1 trend ltering signal approximation method [22] to find the mapping from uncalibrated classification scores to the calibrated probability est...

Imager-to-radiometer in-flight cross calibration: RSP radiometric comparison with airborne and satellite sensors

This work develops a method to compare the radiometric calibration between a radiometer and imagers hosted on aircraft and satellites. The radiometer is the airborne Research Scanning Polarimeter (RSP), which takes multi-angle, photo-polarimetric measurements in several spectral channels. The RSP measurements used in this work were coincident with measurements made by the Airborne Visible/Infra...
